About TV Lab
The Dutch Public Broadcasting companies are busy thinking up new concepts for the third edition of TVLAB, our annual week of experimental formats on Nederland 3. During TV Lab the viewing audience of Nederland 3 gets the opportunity to act as a TV critic and comment on innovative, divergent and creative programs.
Origin
In 2009 TV Lab started as a theme week on Nederland 3. Public Broadcast producers and creatives were given the opportunity to show new programs and let them be judget by TV critics. Eight programs that were broadcast during TV Lab 2009 have become a regular feature on Nederland 3. In a few cases teh format was adapted, taking the evaluation of TV critics into account.
Participation and interaction
TV Lab arose from changes in the media landscape. Channel manager Roek Lips: 'Television is no longer a one-way street. TV Lab's viewer panel demonstrated that viewers like to be involved in formats and the development of the channel's programming. TV Lab establishes an interaction with the viewer who can then participate.'
Across the border
TV Lab hasn't gone unnoticed abroad either. The concept has aroused interest in several countries. Programs from the last edition have also been broadcast on the Belgian TV channel Canvas.
2011 edition
